CARES Program

I AM STEM in partnership with First Presbyterian Church presents the CARES Program. CARES stands for College Attainment & Readiness Enrichment Services. The goal of this program is to support Alachua County students as they pursue their educational goals.

How does it work?

Elementary and middle school students will receive assitance with homework and upcoming assignments. High school students will notify us about their college and career goals. We will then work with the students to assist them in achieving their individual goals by providing resources, support, an appropriate pace to meet their deadlines, and accountability. We will also guide families as their children transition from high school to college.

How much does it cost?

Families will pay $25 each month. Parents and students must commit to participating for the entire school year.

Groups will pay $100 each month. Each group must commit to participating for the entire school year.

What services are offered?

We critique resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and college essays. We will also support students as they prepare for the SAT and ACT by providing test-taking tips and preparation materials. Our volunteers/staff are equipped to assist with senior projects and supporting students as they seek opportunities to get community service hours. We will also provide assistance finding national, state, and local scholarships and securing financial assistance for school.

When is the program offered?

We will meet on Mondays from 6:00PM-7:00PM (except on National and Alachua County Schools holidays) at Woodland Park, located at 1900 SE 4th Street, Gainesville, Florida 32641.
